Posters welcoming ISIS leader Baghdadi spotted in Srinagar
Srinagar, Aug 21 (IBNS): Posters having the picture of Islamic State (ISIS) leader Abu bakr al-Baghdadi and the flags of the Sunni terror group along with that of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Pakistan were waved in the Kashmir valley on Friday.
According reports , dozens of youth assembled near Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta and staged pro-freedom and anti-India protests.
The protesters waved the flags of ISIS, Pakistan as well as Lashkar-e-Toiba. Eyewitnesses said that, the protesters, were also holding pictures of ISIS chief.
Even though waving of ISIS and Pakistan flags have become common in the valley, especially on Fridays, probably it was for the first time that the posters Baghdadi were flashed.
Apparently, the posters welcomed the self-proclaimed ISIS caliph to Kashmir Valley. "Welcome Kashmir Abu Bakar Al Bagdadi," captioned a poster that had the Isis leader's picture.
Reports said that the youths pelted stones on government forces deployed in the area who in return fired teargas and pepper gas shells to disperse the protesters. The clashes in the area continued for nearly 30 minutes.
It was at least fifth such instance of waving Isis flags in the Kashmir valley.
The latest incident comes just two days ahead of Pakistan National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz's arrival in India for talks with his counterpart Ajit Doval, primarily over terrorism-related issues, on Aug 24.
