In a complaint filed with the Darrang district Superintendent of Police on Sept 10, Minuwara Begum alleged that she and her two other sisters were picked up by a police team from their residences led by the Officer-in-Charge of Burha police outpost, Mahendra Sarma on Sept 8 night.

The complaint stated that – they were taken to Burha police outpost, where the Officer-in-Charge of Burha police outpost and a lady constable physically tortured them whole night. They were also stripped naked.

“We were brutally beaten up and the police officer touched our private parts. The police officer also threatened us by showing pistol to not file any complaint against him,” said in the complainant.
