Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state CM Raman Singh are corrupt: Rahul Gandhi

| @indiablooms | Nov 10, 2018, at 05:50 pm

Kanker, Nov 10 (IBNS): Visiting poll-bound Chhattisgarh, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state CM Raman Singh are 'corrupt'.

"Raman Singh's son's name appears in Panama Papers but no action is taken against him because CM Raman Singh and Mr. Modi are corrupt," Gandhi said.

Attacking Modi further on the issue of farmer loans, Gandhi said: "Farmers have pleaded to the BJP govt to waive off loans but Mr. Modi refuses to do so. Farmers are made to pay for insurance, but when their crops are damaged they're not given the right compensation."

Gandhi even alleged that the BJP government in the state helps 15-20 rich industrialists by cheating people of Chhattisgarh.

"Chhattisgarh is a prosperous state, but the BJP govt steals from the people and helps 15-20 of rich industrialist friends," Gandhi said.

The state elections will be held in two phases on Nov 12 and 20.

Out of total 90 constituencies, elections will be held in 18 seats on the first day of polling. Polling in rest 72 seats will be held on Nov 20.

The Congress is eyeing on to wrest power in the state, which is presently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Chief Minister Raman Singh.

The state polls are crucial for both the incumbent BJP and Congress ahead of the 2019 General Elections, which will be held in few months' time.
