Pro-Khalistan Group tries to burn tri-color outside Indian embassy in US, Twitter suspends account
New York, Jan 27 (IBNS): A small group of Sikh separatists on Saturday protested outside the Indian Embassy in Washington as they tried to burn the Tricolor, leaving several Twitter users and local community slamming the move.
According to reports, the event was organised by New York-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
The protesters reportedly raised "Khalistan Zindabaad" slogans during the event.
Sources told All India Radio that the demonstrators were completely outnumbered by flag-waving, enthusiastic and patriotic Indians.
Sources told the Indian national radio that SFJ are a fringe group backed by Pakistan clearly bringing out the nefarious design of Pakistan to stir up trouble.
After the incident, the official Twitter handle of the Sikh for Justice (SFJ) has been suspended.
Twitter users slam the move:
One United4 India tweeted: "Breaking News? Quite predictable - SFJ’s Twitter account #suspended for running hate campaign against #India! LOVE! Twitter is for #love and #peace!"
