Rafale verdict: No reason to doubt process, says Supreme Court

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS): In a big relief to the Narendra Modi government, the Supreme Court on Friday said there is no reason to doubt the process of the Rafale deal (buying of 36 fighter jets from France).

The main opposition party, Congress, had raised questions in the process of the Rafale deal.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi said there is no need to interfere in the pricing of the deal.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are having a face-off over the Rafale deal ever since former French President Francois Hollande said India had urged France to nominate Indian industrialist Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence Industries as its partner in the Rafale deal.

Though Hollande's claims were denied by the French government, the former stood firm by his statement.
