Rahul Gandhi expresses his aspiration to become PM in 2019
New Delhi, May 8 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi has expressed his aspiration to become the Prime Minister of the country after 2019 Lok Sabha polls, in which the leader thinks the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be defeated, media reports said.
When Rahul was asked recently whether he would become the PM or not, the Congress chief said he will if his party emerges as the largest political outfit in the next General Elections.
"If the Congress is (becomes) the biggest party, yes." Rahul said.
With a sheer conviction, Rahul said, "Modi will not become the PM in 2019.I can see it on his face."
Rahul even predicted the BJP won't get more than five seats in Uttar Pradesh in the next General Elections against a collective opposition.
Rahul succeeded his mother Sonia Gandhi as the Congress president in late 2017.
While Rahul expressed his wish to steer the country, several other regional parties like Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS), Telegu Desam Party (TDP), Trinamool Congress spoke in favour of a federal front, which would possible be a non-BJP, non-Congress front.
While speaking at the programme, Rahul also said he would like to see at least 10 women Chief Ministers in the country in future.
Rahul is presently busy in campaigning for the Karnataka polls, which is scheduled to be held on May 12.
