Rahul Gandhi keen to 'learn and understand' issues, 'achhe din' for Congress: Sharad Pawar

Pune, Feb 22 (IBNS): Playing with the BJP's poll slogan, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar has said "achhe din", which literally means good time, is coming for the Congress as its chief Rahul Gandhi is keen to "learn and understand" the issues of the country, media reports said.

Pawar made the comment while giving a public interview on Wednesday hosted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray.

Apart from praising Rahul, Pawar has also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being a hard worker.

However Pawar said he feels Modi is unable to understand the country's issues as the PM.

Modi was successful as the Gujarat Chief Minister as he understood his state's issues well, the NCP chief said.

Eyeing on the 2019 General Election, Pawar has ruled out any political alliance with the BJP.

He said an alliance with the Congress is the only possibility.

Pawar even went on to criticise several steps taken by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre which includes demonetisation and also the bullet train project.

"I am not opposed to the project per se. However, it should run between Mumbai and Delhi or Mumbai and Nagpur. Nobody will travel in a bullet train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad," Pawar was quoted by The Times Of India.
