Rajasthan: PM Modi inaugurates Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

Dausa (Rajasthan): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway which is designed to slash the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from 5 hrs to nearly 3.5 hrs.

Inaugurating the stretch built at a cost of Rs 12,150 crore, the Prime Minister said the investment in infrastructure attracts bigger investments, forging a strong roadmap for development.

In the last nine years, the Centre has directed huge investments towards infrastructure development, he added.

"The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is one of the country's biggest and most modern and advanced expressways. It is also one of the magnificent reflections of developing India," the PM said.

Such modern roads, airports, railway tracks, metro rail and railway stations accelerate the pace of development of a country, he stressed.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Western Dedicated Freight corridor will emerge as two colossal pillars of development for both Rajasthan and the nation as a whole, PM Modi said.

The expressway will pass through six states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and connect major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat.

The Prime Minister said the Centre has invested Rs 50,000 crore for the development of infrastructure in Rajasthan.

"This year, too, we have allocated Rs 10 lakh crore for building modern infrastructure facilities across the country. This is five times more than the Budgetary allocation of 2015," Modi said.

Referring to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the PM said the people of Rajasthan, including the poor and the middle class, will benefit hugely from the investment.

The Expressway is also India’s longest and is expected to reduce the distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 180 kms and the travel time by 12 hours.

The PM said modern infrastructure is the backbone of a strong economy as all sections, from small traders to big industries, all benefit from it.

The expressway is expected to have a catalytic impact on the developmental trajectory of all adjoining regions, thus contributing in a major way to the economic transformation of the country, he said.

"Several 'Village Haats' will be set up across the stretch of this expressway where farmers, artisans and weavers will sell their items," he said.

It will not only boost employment, reduce travel time for ordinary commuters, but also develop various new employment opportunities in the adjoining districts of the states of Gujarat and Haryana, apart from Rajasthan, he said.

Further, it will enhance connectivity to tourist hotspots like Sariska Tiger Reserve, Keoladeo National Park, Ranthambore National Park, Jaipur and Ajmer, enhancing Rajasthan's tourism potential several notches higher.

The expressway will also serve 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 Ports, 8 Major Airports and 8 multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs) along with spurs to new upcoming greenfield airports such as Jewar Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport and JNPT port.

"I am happy to inform you that this expressway will be strengthened by PM Gati Shakti master plan. A network of fibre optic cables will be laid throughout the expressway for 5G connectivity, space has been included for the gas pipeline as well as electricity and the rest of the land under the project will be used for producing solar energy and warehousing," he said.

"'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' is our mantra for the development of Rajasthan and India. We are following that motto to build a self-reliant, strong, and prosperous India," he said.
