Refrain from making petty statements: Modi

Ahmedabad, Apr 22 (IBNS) Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders to refrain from making 'petty statements'.

"With great happiness, the entire nation is looking towards BJP for going to people solely on the issues of good governance & development," tweeted Modi.

"Petty statements by those claiming to be BJP's well wishers are deviating the campaign from the issues of development & good governance," he posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"I disapprove any such irresponsible statement & appeal to those making them to kindly refrain from doing so," he said.

This series of tweets came after a video surfaced in the media showing Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Pravin Togadia asked people of Gujarat to pressurize the government and make sure Muslims cannot buy properties in Hindu neighbourhoods in the state.

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Togadia for his alleged hate speech.
