Revocation of Article 370 will end J&K's accession to India, alleges Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Apr 3 (UNI) Reacting to BJP national president Amit Shah's comment that 2020 will be the deadline for revocation of Article 370, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said the same day will be the end of accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India.

Lashing out at senior Congress leader Karan Singh for his comment on the article, Mufti said his father Maharaja Hari Singh had himself laid the foundation of Article 370.

''Today, he is singing a different tune. I think it is totally incorrect and doesn't fit with his stature,'' the former chief minister of the state told reporters here, after filing her nomination for the coming Parliamentary election from Anantnag Lok Sabha seat, here.

In response to a question about Shah setting 2020 as deadline for the abrogation of Article 370, she said the same year will also be Jammu and Kashmir's deadline to the country, that if promises on which accession of the state to India took place were compromised, the relation of the state with the country will also end.

Mufti said the point related to Jammu and Kashmir in the election manifesto of Congress was the same as the Agenda of Alliance (AoA), which was forged between the PDP and BJP, before coalition government formation in the state.

''Repealing AFSPA from J&K is anti-national and demoralising for armed forces. Then, why was it repealed in three districts of Arunachal by BJP? Why keep a different yardstick for Kashmir?,'' Mufti asked.

''Allure of power gives people selective amnesia. PDP's agenda of alliance agreed upon by the BJP clearly stipulated a review and gradual withdraw of AFSPA from disturbed areas in J&K. Congress demanding it is treason, but BJP wanting it to grab power is OK?,'' she tweeted.
