Robert Vadra facing Enforcement Directorate again today
New Delhi, Feb 9 (IBNS): Robert Vadra, the brother-in-law of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is being quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate again today in connection with a money laundering case and possession of assets abroad. He has reached ED office this morning, said reports.
This is the third day of his interrogation. He was quizzed on Wednesday and Thursday at the ED office in Jamnagar House.
The ED, however, wanted him again today to answer more questions on London property, media reports said. His questioning last day continued for nearly nine hours.
Media reports said he was earlier questioned in a case related to properties in London which, the ED claims, are linked to Vadra and have been purchased through absconding arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari.
A Delhi court had directed Robert Vadra recently to cooperate in the investigation in the case when he had applied for anticipatory bail last week. The case involves the purchase and possession of certain immovable assets in London.
On Saturday, Vadra had got an anticipatory bail till February 16 in connection with a money-laundering case lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who recently joined politics actively, last Wednesday dropped husband Robert Vadra at the Enforcement Directorate office. "I stand by my family. Everyone can see what is happening," she said.
The Congress party has given Priyanka the charge of the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh where the constituencies of BJP heavyweights Narendra Modi (Varanasi) and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath (Gorakhpur) lie.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in November last year had summoned Vadra in the Bikaner land grab case, which concerns a number of companies associated with Vadra that were allegedly involved in fraudulent land deals. The ED was carrying out the probe based on FIRs filed by Rajasthan police in 2015.
Robert Vadra was earlier accused in the DLF land grab scam case related to a 50-acre land grab in 2013 in Amipur village of Haryana during the Congress' Bhupinder Singh Hooda government.
The CBI was investigating Robert Vadra, Hooda and DLF in the case.
