S Jaishankar meets Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, conveys greetings of PM Narendra Modi

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday met Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and said he valued his guidance for further development of ties.

"Honoured to call on the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Ebrahim Raisi @raisi_com," Jaishankar posted on X.

"Conveyed the greetings of PM @narendramodi. Expressed condolences over the Kerman attack. Apprised him of my productive discussions with the Iranian Ministers. Value his guidance for further development of ties," he said.

S. Jaishankar visited Iran on January 14-15 as part of the ongoing high-level exchanges between the two sides.

During his visit, he met Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and hold discussions on bilateral, regional and global issues.

Following the meeting, the Indian Minister posted on X: "Held wide ranging discussions today in Tehran with Iranian FM @Amirabdolahian."

"Our bilateral discussion focused on the long term framework for India’s involvement with Chabahar port and the INSTC connectivity project," he said.

"Also spoke about threats to maritime shipping in the region. Important that this be speedily addressed," Jaishankar said.
