SC issues notice to Prashant Bhushan on tweets against judiciary

New Delhi/UNI:  The Supreme Court Wednesday issued a notice to advocate Prashant Bhushan for his alleged derogatory tweets against the judiciary.

A bench, headed by Justice Arun Mishra, also requested Attorney General KK Venugopal to assist the court in the matter.

"Notice of show-cause of why he shouldn't be hauled up for contempt has also been issued to adv Prashant Bhushan," Justice Arun Mishra said.

The bench also comprising Justices B R Gavai and Krishna Murari was hearing the suo motu cognisance in the case against Bhushan for his alleged tweets.
Twitter Inc has also been asked to file a reply.

The Top Court will hear the matter on August 5.
