Semen flinging incident: Students, teachers protest outside Delhi Police Headquarters, demand more security for women
New Delhi, Mar 1 (IBNS): With several semen-flinging incidents being reported across New Delhi ahead of Holi, several students and teachers gathered outside the Delhi Police Headquarters to protest against the incident.
They were seen holding placards and posters, demanding authorities to provide adequate safety and security to women students both inside and outside their colleges.
The protest occurred a day after semen-filled balloons were thrown at some female students of the Lady Shri Ram College and other Delhi University affiliated colleges.
Protesters raised slogans and demanded for security as they demonstrated outside the police headquarters.
Holi will be celebrated in Delhi and rest of the nation on Friday.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has sent a team to LSR after semen-filled balloons thrown on students.
The Commission earlier tweeted: "A two-member team from NCW visited Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University in connection with the media report "Holi hooliganism: LSR students' Instagram posts on being hit by semen filled balloons go viral" and to assess the situation."
"The NCW Team interacted with the Principal, other faculty members, and student representatives. NCW also interacted with the concerned SHO of the area. However, the victim refused to interact with anybody," it said.
"Based on the interaction and after assessing the concerns of the students, the NCW Team suggested for increase in the police patrolling in the area. Phone numbers of beat constables were also shared with the college authorities to enable girls to contact them when in in need," it said.
