Hassan/IBNS/UNI: Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday announced sanyas from electoral politics.

The announcement came after returning to Bengaluru from Delhi as he was unable to meet national party president JP Nadda. Gowda also had expressed his ire over the delay in appointing the state unit president.

The BJP leader however thanked the party for giving him opportunities to serve in distinguished positions for the last three decades.

"The party has given me everything in my 30 year political career, I have worked as an MLA for 10 years, MP for 20 years, Chief Minister for one year and held the post of State Party President for 4 years, I don’t want more," he told reporters here.

The biggest moment in Gowda's political career was when the party anointed him as Karnataka Chief Minister after BS Yediyurappa was asked to step down as the CM due to corruption charges against him in 2011.

In 2014, he was briefly made the Union Minister for Railways. Later, he served as the Union Minister for Law and Justice and then Union Minister for Statistics and Program Implementation.
