Shootout near Sikh temple in US city believed to be between two groups of Referendum 2020

Stockton: At least three people were hurt in a shooting incident near a Sikh temple (gurudwara) in US city of Stockton on Saturday, media reports said.

These people were injured during a clash between two groups of Sikh Referendum 2020 in Stockton Gurdwara Sahib in California, ANI news agency reported.

The pro- Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) pushes for Sikh Referendum 2020 as part of its separatist agenda.

The Indian government earlier banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for a period of 5 years.SFJ was formed with Avtar Singh Pannun as its president and Gurpatwant Singh Pannun as its legal advisor.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:42 p.m. (9:42 p.m. ET), according to Joseph Silva, spokesperson for Stockton Police Department as reported by CNN.

The police arrived at the scene and located the three victims.

Silva told CNN there was an event taking place at the temple when the shooting occurred.

The injured people were shifted to hospital for treatment.
