'Shortcut politics lead to short circuit': PM Modi in Jharkhand
Deoghar (Jharkhand)/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the country is facing a new challenge in the form of "short-cut politics" and asked the people to remain away from it.
"Today shortcut politics is the biggest challenge. It is very easy to fetch votes through shortcuts, where one has to do no hard work to get the votes of the people. But if the politics of the country depends on shortcut politics then it will lead to a short circuit. We have to stay away from it," he said while addressing a rally organised by the Jharkhand BJP at the Deoghar College Grounds here.
He said earlier parties that were in power adopted short-cut politics as a result of which many nations which had got independence at around the same time like India went ahead while 'our country' lagged behind.
He said that the action of such parties was only confined to getting power.
PM Modi cited the example of electricity which is generated through power plants. To set up the power plants one needs to make lots of investments, but "unfortunately" those who indulge in short-cut politics use the money meant for investment in misleading the people, and as a result, the country goes backwards, said he.
Modi urged the people to remain away from such a brand of politics.
The Prime Minister said parties that indulge in shortcut politics do not make airports, roads, AIIMS and medical colleges.
He said when the government would not have money, then how it would undertake development and infrastructure for the welfare of the people.
Referring to the people lighting one lakh diyas (eartne lamps) here the night before to celebrate the opening of the Deoghar airport on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said the entire country has watched the "Diwali" celebrated in the temple town.
"When development reaches the people, they become happy and excited," he said. The long queue of people he saw from the airport to the temple to "give their blessings" to him is his life's biggest capital, the Prime Minister added.
"On one hand there are blessings of Baba Baidyanath and on the other side is the blessings of Janta Janardhan which give me strength," he said adding that he had prayed to Baba Baidyanath for the development of Jharkhand and its people.
He said the new facilities inaugurated here will help the kanwariyas and the devotees coming to Deoghar.
