Sikhs in Shillong are safe : Delhi MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa

Shillong, June 3 (IBNS): While rumours over Shillong violence spread out in social media, Delhi MLA and General Secretary of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Sunday visited the Meghalaya’s capital city and took stock the situation.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa urged people not to believe any rumour as the Sikh community people in Shillong are safe.

Sirsa, who visited Shillong to assess the situation, tweeted, “Sharing about Shillong situation... Requesting people not to worry or believe rumours, Sikhs are safe”.

“Ground report from Shillong, With local Sikh population, I request you all to share the video maximum so that people all across India can see the truth and stop believing rumours,” Sirsa said his another tweet.

On other hand, Sirsa on Sunday met Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and discussed over the situation.

The Meghalaya CM had assured Sirsa of safety of the Sikh community people and religious institutions in the state.

On Thursday, a bus conductor and three others were assaulted by some people at Them Aew Mawlong, a Punjabi settlement in Shillong which triggered violence in the city.
