Six killed, 2 injured as truck hits auto in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot

Six people were killed and two others injured when an autorickshaw was hit by a truck in the Karvi area of Chitrakoot district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said.

Police sources said that the incident took place near Chakmali Amanpur village in the morning, where the speeding truck hit the auto.

"Eight passengers in the auto sustained serious injuries in the incident and were taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared five dead. One of the victims died while being taken to Prayagraj," they said.

Police sources said that the deceased has been identified as Aniruddh (30), Akhilesh (22), Atar Singh (50), Dharmendra Soni (30), and Nidhi Soni.

"Nirbhay (20), Suraj (20), and Sumit (14), who sustained serious injuries, were referred to Prayagraj. Nirbhay died while being taken to Prayagraj," they said.
