Sonbhadra mine collapse: Body recovered, search on for 4 more people

Sonbhadra/UNI: The body of one individual who was trapped under the debris following a mine collapse in the mining area behind the Sharda temple was recovered in the Obra area of this district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning.

Four more labourers are suspected to be trapped under the debris. A rescue drive by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is underway to save others.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashish Srivastava here said that the NDRF team, which came from Banaras in the morning, has reached the spot for rescue work in the mine collapse incident near Sharda temple in the Billi Markundi area.

After inspecting the spot, the team started the rescue work and spotted a hand trapped under a brick at around 0700 hrs in the morning.

Following this, the team members started clearing the heavy bricks and stones and after about 15 minutes, the body of Surendra (25) was recovered.

Police have sent the body to the district hospital for a post-mortem. The SP added that four more people are suspected to be trapped under the debris.
