Sonia Gandhi elected as Congress Parliamentary Party leader
New Delhi, Jun 1 (IBNS): In a meeting with all elected MPs, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has been elected as the party's parliamentary party leader.
In the meeting, Sonia said: "We thank the 12.13 Cr voters for reposing faith in the Congress Party."
Congress' top brass- Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh- are also present in the meeting.
Thanking the voters and Congress workers, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said: "Every Congress member must remember that each one of you is fighting for the Constitution, for every person in India irrespective of the color of his skin or belief’."
After the Lok Sabha poll debacle, Rahul, despite disapproval of his party leaders, is insisting on resigning as the Congress chief.
Suffering a massive defeat in the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress won just 52 seats across the country.
