Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi's oath taking was greeted by thumping of desks by members from Congress, DMK and Trinamool Congress while her son Rahul Gandhi was seen happy and smiling taking note of the joyous occasion.
The newly appointed Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stood up while thumping the desk in honour of former Congress chief.
Sonia Gandhi's oath taking was immediately followed by Maneka Gandhi, BJP MP from Sultanpur. There was a momentary lighter mood as the former Union Minister had to walk back to her seat to pick up her spectacles.
Her party colleague S S Ahluwalia came forward passing the specs.

Among them Swami Sakshi Maharaj said, 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and "Jai Shri Ram' and he was quickly supported by a few members saying 'mandir wohi banayenge'.
