New Delhi, June 9 (IBNS): Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi while holding a meeting with Congress chief ministers in an attempt to discuss the agricultural crisis and the controversial Land Acquisition Bill which is being pushed by the Centre government.
"On one hand,PM wants to project himself as champion of good governance,on other he allows his colleagues to make communal remarks," Sonia Gandhi said during the meeting.

She said, "There is a dangerous duplicitous game that is being played out."

The Congress President said that it is the responsibility of the Central Government to create and maintain an atmosphere conducive for cooperation and consensus.

"Your administration and the Party organisation have to work cohesively with each other," she told the CMs.

"As Chief Ministers you have a special responsibility to ensure that Party workers are motivated & enthused," Sonia directed.

Speaking at the meeting, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, "There is somewhat of an euphoria that our GDP growth since 2014-15 has started accelerating once again."

"But doubts have been expressed both within and outside Government about the validity of new GDP numbers And I certainly hope that they respect the autonomy of institutions that have stood us in good stead like the RBI," Manmohan Singh said.

He also raised concern over the removal of the Planning Commission.

"I am concerned that the Planning Commission that helped weaker states and poorer regions has been abolished hastily," said he.
