Sourav Ganguly meets Mamata Banerjee
The meeting was held amid speculations that Ganguly has emerged as a key contender to be Jagmohan Dalmiya's replacement as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
Ganguly, however, refused to comment on the issue.
He told reporters: "It is too early say on it."
"I have lost someone who was very dear to me. I have grown up before him since childhood," he said.
Ganguly, who was accompanied by Dalmiya's son Avishek, said he met Banerjee to invite her for the late BCCI president's 'shraddh' ceremony.
Dalmiya died in a Kolkata hospital on Sunday.
