Speeding pickup van mows down mother, son in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 16 (IBNS): A middle-aged woman and her son, who is studying in a college, were killed on Sunday early morning after being hit by an overspeeding mini truck at Strand Road area under Hare Street Police Station limits in Kolkata, reports said.

According to reports, when the residents of Anandapur Naskarhat, Meera Devi and her son Arun Rana were returning home after having bath in river Ganges, a pickup van hit them in front of Calcutta Swimming Club.

They were rushed to SSKM hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

After the accident, the killer goods carrier vehicle fled from the spot.

Police, however, are examining CCTV footage to identify the vehicle and to catch its driver.
