Supreme Court nod for NEET counselling with existing quota
New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Friday gave its nod for NEET-PG medical counselling process for admissions to the 2021-22 academic session with existing OBC/EWS criteria.
A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and A S Bopanna allowed the 2021-22 admissions on the basis of the existing 27 percent reservation criteria for Other Backward Class (OBC) and 10 per cent quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
The apex court allowed the existing criteria to operate for the current admission year in order not to delay further the admission process amid nearly a month-long agitation by resident doctors.
The EWS quota will be finally decided after a detailed hearing in March, the bench said.
