Supreme Court to take Ayodhya case on Feb 26

| @indiablooms | Feb 20, 2019, at 06:03 pm

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court will hear the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute matter on February 26.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, also comprised of Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer.

On the last date of hearing, January 29, the apex court deferred the matter as one of the judges Justice SA Bobde was on medical leave.

There are 14 appeal files against the 2010 Allahabad HC verdict of partitioning the disputed 2.77 acre land equally among three parties -- Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara.

One of the Respondents Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) has moved a petition before the court for early hearing of the case. However, the top court declined the request.

Earlier, on April 19, 2017, the SC had said that LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti would be prosecuted for serious offence of criminal conspiracy in the politically sensitive 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case and ordered day-to-day hearing and trial to be concluded in two years.
