Sushma Swaraj meets Aung San Suu Kyi

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IBNS): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday met Myanmar's State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi.

Swaraj arrived in Myanmar on Monday.

She met other leaders of the country including President U Htin Kyaw.

Speaking on her meeting with Kyi, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted: "An old friend of India, a new partner in progress. EAM meets Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor & FM of Myanmar."

Since, Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD)  came to power in the country, this is the first high-level visit from India to Myanmar.
