Suspicious men spotted in Pathankot, search op underway

New Delhi, Sept 27 (IBNS): The security forces on Tuesday launched a heightened search operation in Pathankot after villagers from nearby area spotted "suspicious men" along the Punjab-Himachal Pradesh border, media reports said.

The forces are trying to nab those "suspected men" and also check whether there is a terror link.

This comes amid the soaring relation between India and Pakistan over the deadly Uri attack in which 18 army men were martyred.

India has blamed Pakistan for engineering the attack.

Earlier in the day, Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and presented him with proof in connection with the cross-border origins of that Uri attack on Sept 18.

Jaishankar informed Basit about the two guides who helped in infiltration of the terrorists, officials said.

They were apprehended by local villagers and have been taken into custody by Indian security forces.

India witnessed a major militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri town on Sept 18 which left 18 soldiers martyred.

India has also launched a campaign against Pakistan at the United Nations' platforms for aiding and abetting terrorism.
