Sweet shops across West Bengal go on strike to protest against GST
Owners of the sweet shops have called for a three-day-long hunger strike which is scheduled to be held in Kolkata's downtown Esplanade area from Thursday (Aug 24) to Saturday (Aug 26).
The West Bengal Sweet Sellers Association (WBSSA), which led the strike today, has threatened to strengthen its movement if the Centre doesn't withdraw GST from sweets.
GST was implemented by the Cetre from July 1.
