Tamil Nadu polls: AIADMK surges ahead

Chennai, May 19 (IBNS) In a closely-contested encounter in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the AIADMK has surged ahead of its closest rival, DMK-Congress alliance, by at least 50 seats.

While trends show AIADMK leading in 132 of the 234 seats, the coalition has managed 72. PMK is third with a mere 4 seats lead. BJP has so far managed just the one seat.

In Puducherry, the trend is in favour of the Congress, where they have managed a lead in 20 out of the 30 seats.

NRC is presently second with a lead in nine seats.
