Tamil Nadu: Sasikala heads for Bengaluru jail via Amma memorial
AIADMK supremo VK Sasikala, who was all geared up to take over as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and don the mantle of late J Jayalalithaa, has been convicted by the Supreme Court in corruption cases dating back to 1990s, ending her campaign for the coveted post.
The Supreme Court refused to entertain Sasikala's plea seeking more time to surrender for undergoing jail term in the disproportionate assets case.
According to reports, Sasikala will travel by road from Chennai to Bengaluru.
On Wednesday morning, Sasikala went to pay her respect to the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa after leaving her Poes Garden home.
Sasikala will be kept at the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara in Bengaluru, media reported.
