Terror: Son of retd. Major Gen. arrested for suspected links

Panaji, Feb 4 (IBNS) A 44-year old man, son of a retired Major General, was arrested in Goa for suspected terror link, according to reports.

Zee News reported that the man identified as Samir Sardana, was picked up from Vasco Railway Station by Goa Police after they suspected his movements.

He is a chartered accountant by profession and was carrying five Passports, a laptop and four cellphones at the time of his arrest.

Zee also quoted Goa police as saying that though a Hindu by birth, Sardana was practicing Islam.

He was arrested under Section 41 of Criminal Procedure Code and is now with the Anti Terror Squad.

The ATS said that they found some e-mails and letters of Sardana that are yet to be decoded.   

Over the last couple of months, several government security agencies have been involved in nabbing youths from various parts of India, all relating to connections with IS and other fringe outfits.
