Those questioning recognition of India's feat were in the World Bank:Modi
New Delhi, Nov 3 (IBNS) : Claiming that India made a "stupendous work" by jumping the index ladder for ease of doing business, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lashed out at the opposition for questioning the country's progress, saying the critics themselves were in the World Bank, the institution which has recognised the feat.
Speaking at the presentation of India’s Business Reforms at Delhi’s Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Modi said, “The people questioning India’s good show on the Ease of Doing Business index are the ones who have themselves worked at World Bank."
" I have not even seen the World Bank building, but know India is on the right track. I want to tell them that had they done the kind of work we have, this achievement would have come during their tenure itself," he said in an obvious reference to the Manmohan Singh-led Congress Government.
“They don’t want to work, but are quick to question those who do,” Modi said.
His outpour comes days after the Congress said the global index that shows India having jumped 30 steps on the count of ease of doing business, was "not based on ground reality" as it does not take into account the impact of GST and demonetisation.
"This is not just an ease of business ranking... it is also an ease of living life, the PM contended.
The World Bank report that puts India at the 100th place-30 slots up as compared to the previous position, ranks the country top among the South Asian nations.
