Threat SMS to TMC MP: One suspect arrested from Kolkata

Kolkata, Dec 23 (IBNS): The Kolkata Police on Wednesday evening arrested one suspect from Kasba area for allegedly sending threat-SMS to Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Banerjee.

TMC Lok Sabha MP Sudip Banerjee on Tuesday claimed that he had received several SMSes with death threats and raised the issue in Parliament.

"After tracing the mobile number, from which those SMSes were sent, we have made the arrest. We have arrest one web-designer- Dipanjan Mitra (33)- from his residence at Kasba area in Kolkata and the interrogation is currently underway. His mobile has been seized. We are trying to know his motive. Our Detective Department is also looking into the matter," one senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS.
