TMC names Subrata Bakshi as additional All India General Secretary

Kolkata, Feb 14 (IBNS): The Trinamool Congress on Saturday announced the appointment of party MP Subrata Bakshi as additional All India General Secretar

He has also been given the charge of Tripura.

Till now, it was only former Railway Minister Mukul Roy who was serving as the All India General Secretary.

The announcements were made following a meeting  of presidents of different district committees, frontal organisations heads and senior leaders of the ruling party.

After the meeting, party leader and state minister Partha Chatterjee told media: "Trinamool has appointed Subrata Bakshi as additional All India General Secretary. He is a founder member."

"Derek O'Brien, Firhad Hakim and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar elevated to a new body to function as National Secretariat of party," he said.

He said: "Derek O'Brien will oversee the party's organisation in North East and Kerala. Suvendu Adhikari will oversee Assam."

Meanwhile, the party has appointed Dinesh Trivedi as the Vice President of the party.

Reacting on the appointment of Bakshi, Mukul Roy told NDTV: "No one can give you wings, no one can take away your wings."
