Two killed, six injured in grenade blast in Meghalaya

Guwahati, Jan 9 (IBNS) : At least two people were killed and six others injured in a powerful grenade blast in East Garo Hills of Meghalaya on Saturday, officials said.

The incident took place near a wine shop in William Nagar market area at around 1:15 pm.

East Garo Hills police said that suspected militants of banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) had triggered the blast.

Local people said that two civilians were killed on spot and at least six others injured in the powerful blast.

The injured persons were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Top police, army officials and forensic team have rushed to the area.
