Two suspected NSCN (K) militants lynched to death by villagers, huge cache of arms-ammo recovered

Guwahati, Nov 3 (IBNS): Two suspected NSCN (K) militants were beaten to death by villagers in Assam’s Cachar district on Saturday.

According to reports, the incident took place at Harinagar market area under Lakhipur sub-division in Barak Valley district.

Some villagers spotted a six-member militant group with heavy arms in the area and immediately informed other people in the region on the issue.

Within 15 minutes, a large number of people gathered at the area and caught two militants of the group.

The local people caught them with arms and beaten them and informed police.

Four militants of the group had managed to flee from the area.

Later, security personnel had recovered both in serious condition and immediately rushed to nearest hospital, where they were succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased militants are yet to be identified.

Security personnel recovered three AK-56 rifles, one 12 bore single barrel rifle, one Chinese LMG rifle, two 5.56 mm rifle, one point 22 mm pistol, 308 rounds 5.56 mm ammunition, 361 rounds 7.62 mm ammunition, one Chinese hand grenade and other warlike stores from the area.

Cachar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Roushan said that, a team of SSB and police engaged in duty at Joypur area had immediately rushed to the area and recovered two persons in serious condition.

“They were succumbed to their injuries in hospital. We had recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in possession from them,” the top police official said.

Meanwhile, top officials of Assam police and other security agencies have rushed to the area and launched combing operation to nab the fled militants.
