Uddhav Thackeray seeks CM Eknath Shinde's resignation over land allotment case

Nagpur/UNI: Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday sought the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as the latter was Urban Minister when he allotted the land to private individuals.

Addressing a press conference here, Thackeray said the matter is serious.

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has ordered status quo on a decision taken by Shinde when he was Urban development minister in the MVA government and had allotted land meant for slum dwellers to private individuals.

Thackeray said Shinde should resign from the post of Chief Minister.

He also said the matter was sub-judice and the state government should not intervene in it.

"We oppose this intervention as the minister involved in it, is now the chief minister and if a plea is to be presented by the government, the possibility of interference cannot be ruled out," the former CM said.

"Political interference is inappropriate and it is not appropriate for the CM to remain in office," he added.
