New Delhi/IBNS:  Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri recently launched the book "Inside the Terrifying World of Jaish-e-Mohammad" authored by Dr. Abhinav Pandya, CEO and Founder of Usanas Foundation, providing an insight into the operations of one of the most lethal terror groups in South Asia.

Published by HarperCollins, the book launch was organised by Usanas Foundation in New Delhi.

During the keynote address,  Puri commended Dr. Pandya for his dedicated efforts in producing this book, acknowledging the extensive and arduous research and interviews conducted within the relevant field.

The minister emphasized the scholarly nature of the work and expressed a desire for its widespread dissemination.

Jaish -e-Mohammad, the youngest Deobandi terrorist group, is special in many ways. Having brought India and Pakistan twice on the verge of a full fledged war, Jaish continues to be one of the most lethal terror groups in South Asia.

Its expertise in high impact spectacular fidayeen attacks gets its terror attacks an international limelight.

Jaish has robust ties with international terror groups like Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda provided seed funding to Jaish. Osama bin Laden negotiated the distribution of assets when Jaish split from its parent entity.

"Jaish has a pan India vision. With a deeply networked Deobandi support system it can be a great security challenge for India in an increasingly polarized social milieu," said Dr. Abhinav Pandya.

In Kashmir, its proxy paff has done some of the most lethal attacks in Jammu region, he said.

In his address, Minister Puri underscored the inherent power dynamics within the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), characterizing it as a platform for overt power struggles.

Furthermore, he emphasized the obstruction of India's endeavours to designate specific individuals and groups as terrorist organizations by nations driven by ulterior motives and their own political agendas.

He stressed the exploitation of democratic freedoms by terror groups for funding and support, urging for heightened vigilance to counteract such abuse.

Former Ambassador of Libya, Jordan, and Malta, Anil Trigunayat, provided an overview of the current global and Indian scenarios, focusing on the impact of terrorism and extremism.

Ambassador Trigunayat also discussed the book commending its comprehensive research and its relevance to individuals involved in counterterrorism efforts.

The book launch was graced by the presence of numerous dignitaries including diplomats, army generals, scholars, and media personalities such as Lt. Gen Syed Ata Hasnain, Amb. Lakshmi Puri, Amb. KD Dewal, Lt. Gen. RK Sawhney, Mr. Shiv Murari Sahai, and Aman Sinha, among others.

In his special remarks, former Lt. Governor of Delhi, Tejendra Khanna, emphasized the importance of paying attention to Islamic practices, stating that neglecting them can have serious consequences. He also pointed out that some Madrasas are becoming centres of Jihad.

During the book discussion, Shiv Murari Sahai, a former IPS officer and Additional Secretary in NSCS, emphasized the competence and capability of intelligence agencies in conducting successful intelligence operations to combat terrorism.

However, he pointed out that India has faced challenges in effectively addressing the dissemination of Islamic extremist ideology.

Sahai emphasized the importance of all military and intelligence personnel familiarizing themselves with the contents of this book in order to gain valuable insights into terrorist organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Dr. Abhinav Pandya expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his research in Jammu and Kashmir. He shared insights into his journey and extended thanks to all those who contributed to the writing of the book.

During the event, Dr. Anita Jain, the Director of Usanas Foundation, delivered a welcoming address and presented a report on the activities of Usanas.
