New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday granted two more weeks time to the Central Bureau of Investigation to complete the probe into the alleged attack on Unnao rape victim and her lawyer in a road accident case.

Both the victim and her lawyer were critically injured in a July 28 car-truck collision on the National Highway near Rae Bareli in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Two aunts of the woman had been killed in the collision.

The CBI is probing whether there was a conspiracy behind the collision.

A case was filed when the young woman attempted to immolate herself outside the residence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in April last year.

On the orders of the apex court, the CBI took over the probe in all the five cases related to the alleged rape.

Setting September 6 for the next hearing, a bench, headed by Justice Deepak Gupta, also directed the Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 5 lakh to the lawyer to meet his medical expenses.

The apex court had in the first week of August directed the airlifting of Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer to AIIMS Delhi, from King George Medical College, Lucknow, for further and better treatment.

It had said that the shifting to Delhi will be subject to they being medically fit for it.
