UP Congress plans distribution of Priyanka Gandhi-themed table calendars, after her prolonged absence
Lucknow/UNI/IBNS: The senior Congress leaders in Uttar Pradesh had planned an outreach programme with Priyanka Gandhi to fill the gap created by her absence from all organisational activities last year to strengthen the party base and boost the morale of the workers ahead of Assembly elections scheduled in the beginning of next year.
Senior officer bearers here in UP planned a door-to-door campaign with Priyanka during the ongoing night stay programmes in Gram Panchayats. The programme included photo sessions with the Congress leader and giving away calendars.
However, the fortnight-long drive is almost at the end without her presence. The Congressmen have prepared a new plan to project Priyanka Gandhi and use he popularity to gain ground in UP.
According to the new plan, one million calendars of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be distributed in every city, home and village of the state.
An official communication released on Thursday said the table-calendars will depict Priyanka's journey since becoming active in politics in the 12 pages. It will also have her pictures in different moods as a politician.
In the pictures, Priyanka is seen talking to tribal women, meeting women in Amethi, praying at the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, attending Gandhi Jayanti programme in Lucknow, Ravidas Jayanti in Varanasi, meeting Hathras victim's family, addressing election rallie, meeting children in Azamgarh and participating in a road show in Haryana.
Party sources said the calendar has been designed to promote the party under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi ahead of the next assembly election in 2022.
If sources are to be believed, the calendar also indicates that Priyanka may be projected as Congress's Chief Ministerial candidate in the coming times.
