Uttar Pradesh: Protest erupts in Sambhal district over mosque survey, 3 die during clash
The Sambhal district administration in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday directed to suspend internet connectivity for 24 hours after violence broke out in the region over a mosque survey.
According to media reports, three people died during the clash.
As tension prevails in the area, schools in the region will also remain shut.
According to reports, some people pelted stones at the police when local authorities reached the Jama Masjid in Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh on a court order to conduct a survey.
Police sources told UNI news agency that the court of Civil Judge Senior Division Sambhal located in Chandausi directed to survey the Jama Masjid and submit a report in the court and fixed the date of November 29 for the next hearing, following claims of the Mahant Rishi Raj Giri of Kaila Devi temple and other litigants that the Jama Masjid is the Harihar temple.
Police sources told the news agency that on the orders of the court, the team of Court Commissioner Ramesh Raghav had surveyed the Jama Masjid on November 19.
Following the order of the court, the security of the Jama Masjid has been heightened.
