Varanasi acid attack: Accused arrested

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IBNS): The accused,who attacked a Russian woman wAcith acid, has been arrested, officials said on Saturday.

"The accused has been arrested. The victim is under treatment in Sunderlal Hospital Varanasi. We are monitoring the progress. @ravi1is20521," External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

"As I learnt about the acid attack on the Russian girl in Varanasi, I asked for a report from UP Government," she said.

The 23-year-old woman,  who is from Moscow, was staying as a paying guest at the home of her attacker.

The  man threw acid on the woman after an argument. The two had recently travelled together to Ladakh.
