Vehicles vandalised near Amit Shah's rally in West Bengal; BJP blames TMC

Kolkata, Jan 29 (IBNS): Escalating the political tussle with the ruling party in West Bengal, the BJP on Tuesday alleged that several vehicles near its national president Amit Shah's rally in east Midnapore district were vandalised by the TMC.

The BJP alleged several of its party workers were seriously injured while they were returning back from Shah's rally.

In some of the pictures released by the saffron party's state unit, some cars could be seen set on fire.

Reacting to the incident, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said: "The Talibani style of rule by Mamata Banerjee in Bengal has been exposed. There is no democracy in Bengal."

"It is clear from the attacks that Mamata Banerjee has lost her mandate. We will not tolerate any attack on our workers," Patra added.

However, the TMC has shirked off any responsibility of the attack.

Shah targets Mamata in rally:

Shah on Tuesday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata and her party, TMC, of using 'Bangladeshi infiltrators' as their 'vote bank'.

"Bangladeshi infiltrators have become the vote bank of TMC," Shah said.

He said only the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership can free Bengal from infiltrators.

"Only Modi govt will be able to make Bengal free of infiltrators," he said.

Targeting Mamata, he said: "Mamata Didi is opposing a scheme like Ayushman Bharat just because she fear that if the scheme is implemented then Modi ji will become popular in West Bengal."

Shah said the state government is trying to establish 'bomb manufacturing units' in every district instead of creating development in West Bengal.

"We need to ensure a change in the govt for the development of Bengal. Neither Congress nor TMC was able to develop Bengal," Shah said.

Shah is visiting the state at a time when the country is gearing up to host the Lok Sabha polls, which is due to be held by May.
