Vijay Mallya talks to UK media house about his stay in London
London, Apr 29 (IBNS) Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who is wanted in India for money laundering and other cases, in an interview to a London media house, said that he is in 'forced exile' in London and has no plans to leave the UK.
Talking to Financial Times, in Mayfair, London, Mallya said, “By taking my passport or arresting me, they are not getting any money.”
During the interview, he further said that even though he discussed with the Indian banks about settlements and has submitted to the Supreme Court about settling a part of the dues, the banks are not willing to take a haircut on the loans following the frenzy whipped up against him by the media.
Mallya, who flew from Delhi to London on March 2, when the state-owned banks were trying to recover about Rs. 9,000 crore owed by his Kingfisher Airlines Ltd, said during the interview that he was “absolutely not guilty of any of these preposterous charges of diverting funds from Kingfisher, buying properties or stuff like that.”
The Indian government, which had revoked Mallya's passport earlier, officially wrote to the UK High Commission on Thursday seeking Mallya's extradition.
