Voting begins for first phase of BTC election in Assam
Guwahati/IBNS: Voting began for the first phase of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election in Assam.
Tight security arrangements have been made and the district administration has taken adequate health measures in 1739 polling booths for the first phase election.
Polling for 21 council constituencies in Baksa and Udalguri district under the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) began at 7-30 am on Monday and will proceed to 4-30 pm.
A total of 13,59,020 voters will decide the fates of 130 candidates in ballot papers in the first phase of BTC election.
Out of 21 council constituencies, 11 constituencies fall in Udalguri district while 10 constituencies are in Baksa district.
The second phase of BTC elections in Kokrajhar and Chirang district will be held on December 10 and counting of votes will be held on December 12.
