'Wanted to appear humbler than me': Ashok Gehlot's dig at PM Modi
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is irked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for kneeling before a crowd in Sirohi, saying that the PM was trying to show people that he was humbler than him.
Modi arrived in Abu Road of Sirohi district late on Friday. He did not address the huge crowd gathered there as he reached the venue late and said he had to obey the loudspeaker rules.
He knelt down thrice before the gathering and apologised to the crowd for not being able to address them.
Gehlot said Modi should have asked the people to spread love and harmony instead of displaying such antiques.
He told reporters in Bikaner that Modi is well aware that in Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot has the image of a very humble and simple man.
Gehlot added that this wasn't new and this has been his image since childhood.
Modi cannot contest with him and he just wanted to appear humbler than Gehlot.
The chief minister said Modi should have given the message of brotherhood and love to the countrymen in addition to being humble.
He said Modi didn't do so and wasn't following his advice, and if he had, he would have called up the prime minister and congratulated him.
Gehlot was addressing the district-level Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic sports in Bikaner.
He asked why Modi had to kneel down and claimed that it was just to convey that he was also humble just like Ashok Gehlot.
