WB: Strike affects SER train services
Kolkata, Sept 2 (IBNS): Train services of South Eastern Railway in West Bengal have been partially affected due to agitation at different stations over South Eastern Railway in view of all India general strike called by Central Trade Unions.
However, all long distance up trains in the morning viz. Howrah-Puri Dhauli Express, Howrah-Barbil Janshatabdi Express, Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Express, Howrah-Digha Tamralipta Express, Santragachi- Purulia Rupashi Bangla Express, Howrah- Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Shalimar- Bhojudi Aryanak Express left Howrah as per schedule.
The Down trains which were scheduled to arrive at Howrah in the morning viz. Chennai-Howrah Mail, Mumbai-Howrah Mail, Mumbai- Howrah Jnaneswari Express, Pune-Howrah Azad Hind Express, Puri- Howrah Express, Yesvantpur- Howrah Express, Koraput- Howrah Express and Hatia-Howrah Kriya Yoga Express have also arrived at Howrah.
In Kharagpur Division, rail blockades and agitations were staged for sometime at Balasore, Jaleswar, Soro, Kanthi, Mecheda, Bauria, Birshibpur, Radhamohanpur and Ramrajatala stations ranging from 20 minutes to 2 hrs.50 minutes.
However, agitation at Jaleswar station is still continuing and some trains running over East Coast section are suffering detention enroute. In Adra Division agitation was staged at Kotshila station but withdrawn after a while. In the Chakradharpur Division agitation was held at Barbil Station for about 25 minutes.
As a result, 4 pairs of EMU locals & 2 passenger trains have been cancelled and 1 passenger train has also been short- terminated at Santragachi instead of Howrah .
