West Bengal: 2nd batch of 61 stranded Bangladeshi nationals fly to Dhaka
Kolkata/UNI: About 61 stranded Bangladeshi nationals today flew back to Dhaka by a special Bangladesh Biman plane from Dum Dum airport, official sources here said.
This was the second batch of 61 passengers that flew back to their country. The first batch of 71 Bangladeshis departed on April 1 from the city airport.
The Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 4030 carried the 61 stranded passengers from Dum Dum to Dhaka.
Nearly 300 tourists and business people, who came from Rajasthan and were stuck here due to the lockdown, were also sent to their state with the arrangement of the state government and Burrabazar police station.
Meanwhile, Birbhum district police has detained some 25 Jharkhand bound migrant labourers while being transported in a truck, masquerading as a vehicle for carrying emergency medical equipment.
Police seized the truck that had a declaration written "carrying sanitizers", and arrested its driver for cheating the law enforcing agency.
During a routine frisking at Tarapur village in Seuri, police had found the 25 Jharkhand bound migrant labourers hiding amid jute bales under a heavy tarpaulin.
The labourers were heading for Jharkhand from industrial hub of Dankuni in Hooghly district.
They chartered the truck and were heading for Dumka.
Two policemen were injured in stone pelting when a group of people attacked them at Seuri on Saturday evening.
The policemen went at the spot to ensure that no lockdown was violated but a section of people attack them with bricks and stones.
Three accused have been arrested in stone pelting.
In another incident, Malda police has arrested 25 people for defying lockdown and social distancing from different areas.
